My 1404 doesn't have them.

Looks like somebody was worried about snow build up ?

Pixie what is the size of your tires? my tracks do not ride on the top of my tires and the track seems to want to hit the spring shackle, maybe my tires are to small?sure has me stumped! It sure makes a claken sound when I drive it.

I have the same track.

The tires say 4.00/4.80 X ( 8 or 12...can't remember . I'll look tomorrow)

Big problem I had was I bought a spare tire/rim and the rim was too big along the axle ie.>too long to fit between the springs :pat:

There isn't more than an inch or so between each of my tires.
Do you have a picture of a whole track ?

Just my luck no picture and a backwoods kinda thingy and a case of the claken tracks!! My tire size is 4.8/4.0-8 6 ply.Are the front idler wheels the same size as the main idler wheels? Maybe I am just running around with a loose set of a tracks? At first I thougt it was the nut behind the wheel but I found out it doesn't have a wheel. Now I don't know what to think.

If you run your tracks loose those plates should help keep the bolts and backing plates from getting sheared off. The snow packing in there serves that purpose -somewhat. The plates are not stock.
The front wheel is a 6 inch rim. Idlers are 8 inch rims.
And what could be wrong with a backwoods improvement?
-Pat

:pat: Pat thank you for the rim sizes, that helps alot! I don,t mind a backwoods improvment but they didnt use duck tape or bailing wire!! so how long will that work?I have a lot of learning to do on this limp imp. Larry:)

Could be a step. If you step on the tracks, they just flex and you slip off. I have stepped on the squaare tube to get on the bed from the side before but it is hard when it is full of snow.

That could be ? the 2nd step, but I think the first step I take will be to tighten the tracks up some so they are not so loose. But that would be a good spot to place your foot when getting in.I just need it so the track guides don't hit the spring shackles. Maybe I could shim up the wear pads some more?

Did you understand what I was saying?

The tracks on my imp are prettty bad, but do not make a clacking sound under any conditions. But I don't have the drop-center style either. Post some good close up pictures of your track system and I am sure someone here will figure out the problem.

Yes Pat I understood what you was saying. That could be why they put them on there.I have a friend that has the stright bars and his makes no clacking sounds, but the drop -center tracks on my imp is real noisy.I will try to get better pictures and post them. Thanks for the help Pat .I am sure someone knows what to do.

Well I'm not pat, but I guess you might understand what I was saying. :thumb: Your response confused me in that it didn't read as if you understood what I was trying to tell you. Now as for Pat.. If I knew 1/2 of what he has probably forgotten about snowcats, i would be a lot further ahead..:respect:

:pat: :pat: bulldog I did not mean to call you Pat. I have been mixed up since I GOT THIS IMP 1404. Sorry about that .Larry

No problem.. I have been mixed up a few times myself!!:respect:

I just wanted to make sure that Pat got the credit he deserves.. he obviously knows his stuff about cats..:respect:
