After last night I lost a single grain bin and had 100 acers of corn bent over by the winds. Thisis on a farm of 200 acers that is 15 miles to my south.. Up here were most of my land is the wind wasn't a problem. Now I have a couple of days cleaning up the mess... except the walls of the bin are out in the middle of the corn field. I will have to wait till harvest is done there to remove it. Insurance adjusters will be there before the end of the week I hope. Damn thankfull it was not 15 miles farther North!!

Regards, Kirk

Such is the daily life of a farmer . Always something breaking or needing repair . You have my total respect as farming is not for the weak of heart .

WOW what bad luck, but as you said, good thing the bad winds did not hit your main fields.

Yesterday we had some amazing, but very isolated, storms. Its about 12 miles from my house up to the cigar lounge. It was lightly raining at the cigar lounge. 3 miles south there was a band of heavy rain that was about 4 miles across with BLACK sky, heavy winds, and visibility due to heavy rains that could be measured in feet.

5 miles south at my house it was DRY, calm, and clear skies.

Sounds like that type of situation is what hit your south farm and missed your main farm.

I was wondering if any of that violent weather hit you when I was checking the radar. Sure kicked up some nasty cells before heading east. Today is our turn starting around noon but at least it will cool down.
