Crappy Vac.

I would like to recommend the Bissell Powerforce Turbo Vacuum cleaner. Recommend that you DO NOT buy it! In my opinion it's a PITA. It's bagless which is supposed to save money on buying bags. I ran it through my house (granted I have cats but it's also a very small house,) one pass and the container that holds the dirt filled to over flowing. The filter on it was pretty much clogged and needed to be cleaned. The way the dirt container and filter are opened and (particularly) put back together is very awkward. I really feel that buying it was a mistake and waste of my money :pat:

Save up you $$$ ,and get the dyson canister pet model (purple) . We have 4 fur kids and it's up to the task of picking up after them .

IMHO, that's a sign of a VERY GOOD vacuum.

Think about it this way. It's picking up in its first pass, things that your old vacuum left behind and accumulated over time. Once it gets "caught up", you won't have the constant filling issue.

Our "new" vacuum is now about 15 years old. When we first got it, I was getting it out of the box, assembled... During that period, I had Mrs. Zoom vacuum the LR one last time with the old vacuum and to do the best job it could. Once she finished, we ran the new vacuum over it. Same situation as you. It filled it up. It picked up a bunch of stuff the old one left behind.

As much as I hate to I have to agree with Nixon on the Dyson. Ours get real abuse and keeps on going. Just get used to stopping and dumping the canister more often. We have had real good service from our Dyson and I am sure we have more pets than anybody on the forum.

hubba, hubba.

Had the same experience with a new vac not unlike yours, Catavenger. First pass thru the house and the thing was FILLED with dirt and effin cat hair. Which means the old vac wasn't doing the job. I don't mind at all emptying a vac if it's picking up dirt, even if it is a PITA.

Since mules has agreed with me, I have no choice but to admit I was in error ! :whistling:. I fully agree with Brian and Kane . Your old vac justt wasn't cutting it .

my Mom got me a cannister vacuum. bissel. thing makes me grumble. it's ok, tolerable. i like my shop-vac way better tho. so it takes time. 'least it's effective.

I have an ancient electrolux that was my mom's it has always done a good job but it's awkward to use and now the end of it is falling off when I vacuum.

I wouldn't mind this Bissell so much if it was easier to put back together.

my complaints about vacuums are that they don't build them like they used to my mom's electrolux worked great all through my teen and young adult years and was passed on to me for more use once i finnished a 3 year stint in the army. after the move to nome i go through one of those new plastic pieces of $hit about 1 every 2 years and ours also a bissle bagless it works good a shot of compressed air to the filters and it works fine but they only last a couple of years than the plastic parts start to fall apart.

After spending a bunch of money on a Dyson "Animal", all I can say is don't waste your money. They are the best way to turn electricity into noise, IMO. When my mom passed, I got her Oreck XL upright vacuum. It's a bag style and probably 15 years old.

I can go over what was just vacuumed by that Dyson POS and still get more hair up. An amazing piece of equipment. Well worth the money.

We have one of the newer Electrolux Oxygen and do not waste your money on those either. The vac itself is good and picks up well, but cannot keep the wands working properly in regard to the electrical plugs for the power head. Lousy design, sub par plug in connectors that cannot stand repeated plugging and unplugging. After altering the design it now works OK, but should not have to do that and most people would find themselves repeatedly buying new wands for 22 bucks apiece.

That is my review of the Electrolux Oxygen.

We have a good oldfashioned Kirby. Had all the other crap. Found this, brand new, at a pawn shop, offered two hundred, they took it.
G6, I think.

:agree:
We've had two Oreck XL's for some time and really like the light weight. Our daughters don't so much how ever as they could use them at a younger age than a heavier machine...:whistling::wink:

They seem to work well, I don't have anything to compare however...I just have to keep the hair cut off the rotating brush.

We had them at a fraternity in colledge. Thee of them, one for each floor. Toughest machine ever built, and they were used hard EVERY day too. They didn't like pocket change however, and we kept a replacement fan on hand, just in case. Great machines for that enviroment.
