I don't know why people think that wild animals are tame.

I don't know why people do not understand the 'mothers instinct' in wild animals.

The lady with the camera saw a neighborhood dog, but the deer saw a coyote like animal that, in the wild, would have killed the fawn.

People are idiots. I see this all the time in my own family when they see a "cute" wild animal. Hey, deer will attack if they feel threatened. Wake up, every day is like an episode of "Wild Kingdom" to these animals! Keep your docile domesticated pets away from wild animals. Adjust your mind to realize that these animals are fighting for their survival EVERY HOUR of EVERY DAY and that is all they know how to do.

Stupid woman. The deer should have whipped on her butt for G.P. A mama guarding her baby is never something to mess with.

Wasn't it strange though, how the deer didn't appear to want to attack the cat at first?
Boy, I hope that dog is ok.

LOCO, I agree with your assessment of the cat. Not viewed as a threat. That dog, while I hope it is fine, got exactly what I would expect it would get.

We keep Misha away from deer and don't let her run our woods or land exactly for the reasons of what is in that video. While Misha would likely take down the mama deer, I'm sure that both would be bloodied. She's taken out several raccoons over the years and would not hesitate to take on anything else that is on "her" property. When I had 2 big Akitas they took off after a deer one time. Both were on leashes, they literally pulled me out of my shoes and dragged me about 30 yards down a path before I got them stopped. But those were BIG Akitas compared to Misha (she's only 95#).

Thx Mel. A large house cat can do a lot of damage it is sufficiently motivated, but is not an Apex predator. Deer realize this. Used to have a cat and dog hunting team when I was young. Weirdest combo. But we were hunting Feral dogs and the cat would lure them into range for us.

I've posted before a photo of the 30 or so does that live in my yard. Right now we are seeing a few fawns. These does are not afraid of humans any more, and will stand their ground even without fawns. No way am I going to take on a doe with fawns.

People need to keep their dogs under control. We have a few neighborhood dogs that roam all over the place. They are nice dogs but I suspect they will not come home someday. Either the coyotes, a farmer or a car will get them. I've seen them chasing cows and roaming on the busier roads.

Maybe even a momma deer will get them.
