Code & Romex question...

Is it permissible to run romex across a plastered wall in the garage? I need to bring power to my new garage heater and the fastest way to do it will be to bring a piece of romex up the plaster wall and over the ceiling. Will this meet code???

conduit would be your best/strongest bet, but I believe wire mold would be fine. Very easy to install. It just attaches to your wall, and you run your wire in it. Cover just snaps on, and you can buy pieces that allow you to change direction or run directly into a box.

After spending about 6 hours cutting, fitting, and threading 1/2" black iron pipe I am out of energy. It wouldn't have been so bad if I had a stand for my pipe vise, but I don't have one any longer. Another tool that was borrowed and never returned. I do have another pipe vise, but it isn't bolted down to anything and I didn't want to take the time to move a work bench into the garage, and then bolt it to the floor and then bolt the pipe vise to it. In the end, it would have been a lot quicker if I had. Now I am looking for a easy way out, but it looks like it isn't to be.

I can fish a wire through the walls, but there is no way to get back to the cellar electrical panel that is easy. For the time being, I cheated and added a short electrical cord to the unit to get it working. Figured that I might as well be warm while I do the difficult work of getting power to the unit. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be. The unit will light and then after about 5 - 10 seconds, the burners go off. It does this 2 or 3 times and then shuts down. I checked the owners manual and it says that the two flashes of the LED indicates that it has failed to detect a flame. My guess is that the flame detector (photo cell or cad cell) is defective. I tried to contact customer service, and was put on hold. Then I got a recording after about 15 minutes, that the office was closed and to call back tomorrow. I guess that it will be sometime next week before there is heat in the garage.....
