I am in the early stage of doing an engine swap on a Chevrolet C10 square body pickup. I have a perfect condition ID tag but when I do a search of the ID, VIN it comes back as “not Enough Numbers”. Can someone please help me. I will try to attach a picture.

VIN's changed to 17 characters around 1981. Prior to that year, there wasn't a lot of standardization.

Do you know the year of the truck? Last year it was registered? Is there any paperwork like old registrations laying around?

I'm assuming you want to get it on the road, correct? If so, before investing in a new engine, I'd check with your DMV to make sure you can get it properly registered. They may have to assign you a new VIN.

I hope it's a 632 blown and injected big block.
I needed some 350 Chevy parts last year and napa didn't have them in stock 1 week lead time.

The parts guy said I could build a complete LS engine less the block with their stock did I want to do engine swap ( he was kidding).

Ok I got the basic information on the VIN, thanks to bczoom.
I am wondering if I can get the Build Sheet on this PU from an archive being maintained by someone. I got that information on the Dodge Power Wagon I restored previously.

I had an old generator with a straight-6 Ford.
The people at this site were able to get me the build sheet for the generator.
Not sure if they do old Chevy's but it may be worth a shot. They may be able to point you in a good direction.
