Chains in Oregon

Usually people ask the other way around. If "chains required" is posted by the DOT then you have to chain up both. Traction tires are only good in place of chains when not towing, and under 6.5k unloaded wt. . Few years ago I got a warning after chaining up my tow vehicle but not the trailer. Chains were not >required< at that point but I didn't feel good about going up that stretch of pass without them. Found out if you chain up tow vehicle you have to have chains on trailer. 1-888-ask-odot may have official answer.
