Cement floor sealing - Junkman's help needed!

Junk,

I remember reading a post of yours earlier (perhaps on some other website) where you said you had skipped the fancy epoxy sealers for your cement floor and applied a simple sealing agent. Do you recall what brand sealer you used, and what have been your results so far? Happy? Is it cheaper (I'm guessing definitely)? Does it resist stains? Any peeling or spalling?

I need to seal a pretty old floor in a garage (easily 35-40 years old), and I don't really want to lay out the cash for a professional epoxy application, and I don't think a DIY kit is acceptable quality.

The floor appears to be in good condition with no cracks and spalling in only a few spots.

Dave,
Check out a company called REVERE. We've used their cement paint and their epoxy sealers here. Seems to hold up well under forklift and foot traffic.

I didn't know about that particular vendor before, but that is the type of product I don't want to pay for. I am sure they are fantastic, excellent products, but I just can't afford the $5-$10 (or more!) sq ft that it costs to do my 820 sq ft shop.

Well I was trying to help. And honestly I didn't think I paid that much!!! Now I have to go out and beat the people who are wasting my money!

Actually I know we didn't pay that much. I'm not sure what product we used, but we have a grey floor paint that looks very nice and I know it was not $5/sq-ft. Now the epoxy was probaby pretty expensive, but the floor paint is doing a nice job.

Im my garage, I used a 'tinted' sealer that I got from the concrete supplier. It is the same thing as the clear sealer only 'tinted'. TK I think is the brand? I thinned it about 2-1 with laquer thinner to get it to bite in better, it was fairly thick to begin with.

5 gallon bucket of sealer + (2) 5 gallon buckets of laquer thinner = $100. Enough to cover the floor several times along with the front sidewalk and other odds and ends.

In the left most picture, the can of sealer is visable next to the broom.

I think Junk is out of town for a while, anyone remember that, pretty sure he posted it somewhere?
