I like World War II 'nose art' but maybe a winter themed bit of nose art might be better?

I think a 'swoosh' of some sort that ran from near the front and got bigger toward the back would look good. It would take some of the boxiness away and unify the cab and box.

It might look like snowdust rising from the front of the tracks and end as the edge of a mountain peak at the back. Just an idea.

How about a winter snow cat scene at the cabin or on the trails.... Remember the trailer on Smoky & the Bandit. It had a picture that blended in with the theme of the movie.... OT....

Finding a color that looks good with the orange of the rest of the cat is the challenge in my mind. For me a shade of yellow might go well with it. Maybe a batch of paint chips held up to it would help find a color that doesn't clash with base color. Maybe time to call the wife into the mix, as she may have a better eye for such things. Don't get in a hurry and do it wrong, or the do over will be no fun at all.

Good luck. Kirk

I agree with the suggestion to include the wife. A sign posted at my local hardware store reads "Husbands choosing a paint color need a signed note from their wife."

The black can be cut and sold to me for 180.
This has to be printed on vinyl, then have a clear overlay, and costs me 320, although colors can be changed to include purples, yellows, pinks, etc...

My Photoshop skills will not permit me to overlay this graphic on the cat...I'll call the daughter into indentured servitude.
The Nose art, while cool, is not the direction I'm headed, but I included it to appease the masses...

Looking at some pics, maybe Mother Nature beat me to the design idea:

Just a thought but have you considered checking with any airbrush artists in your area? I know there are a few in the Colorado Springs area and they might be able to come up with some very original designs that would be fitting for a fine looking rig like yours. Times are tough and I would bet there are a few that would give you some great work for a good price.

I just never have been a fan of vehicle wraps or decals, but my wife and I used to do airbrushing and custom paint so I'm a little prejudice.

Cowboy,
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm a big fan of dagger brush pinstripes, Von Dutch style and the like. Maybe some pinstripes...
Just thought the mountain graphic kinda went with the Snowcat theme, but Memphis Belle looked pretty good on there when I tried that too!:wow:

As to your original question, Heck yes I like the graphic idea. Mt scene fits well.
In addition to a couple off white rally stripes over the top of the cat, I am creating a few drafts for vinyl that My imp is going to sport. I lifted the colorado Mountain horizon off of one of those "G spot" bumper stickers ( RD you are from gunnison, You know what that reference is about.) then incorperated the WI State image and an apple (I am from appleton) I am going to put it on the imp in reflective white and grey.

My reason is two-fold the dark green cat will be seen in the day time easy enough.
The relfective vinyl will help be seen at night.

Keep the ideas coming....

OK, this is the best I could do:

Like I said, the colors can be adjusted.

Redsqwrl,
I like the reflective approach. Can you put Bucky skiing down the mountains??

I'm a little late but if you are going to do snow cat nose art how about a krusty eating the snow dust of a thiokol or dangling from a tow line

True to Bucky, However if i include Bucky, I will have to some how get a cheese head in there as well for those meat handlers in Green Bay.

I like your mountain layout.

Don, Out of respect shouldn't we at least allow the Kristy to be pushing the (other cat of choice) on the tow strap?

Like the mt scene also.

Instead of just a generic mt scene, could you take a favorite mt pic of an area that you frequent in the cat and put it on the cat?

might have a little bit of meaning behind it and look cool at the same time.

That's along the lines of how I was thinking. The main thing is you put on whatever you choose, then you can only blame yourself if you don't like it....

Here you go, bit hard to do with a mouse, but gives you some contrast....

Course, with an "Orange" sky, you can use some Orange in the snow as well!
