As I sat there tonite watching the hummers and my trailer with weeds growing up around it, I figured what the heck, it got me what I wanted done and now I dont really use the tractor that much as a tractor, just a mower.

first 14000.00 takes it. you come get it, I help you load it, we cash the check or the certified funds payment at my bank...............first! Must be certified funds

Good job.

it was a good package and a nice price, I just don't have the funds at the moment.

now you can afford some new lenses for the camera, right?
;)

Congrats Danny. Are you planning any major purchases since it sold?

pay off a small (very small) amount of CC debt, zero turn, and maybe the heat pump.............rest in our investment account till we find our property

OK, now that the 23 is gone and I am shopping for a great lawn mower, I am finding out that zero turns suck on slopes.................uh, my yard is a slope, front is really steep. What are you guys and gals thoughts on this, am I hearing right, that they will tip over backwards due to the weight being back there if I go forward up the slope? My front yard starting at the house and going to the drive, 80 feet, is about 12 to 15 feet difference.

Also, outside of Green which I wont pay the price and Yellow, again price, what would be a great mower, and I would love to have a snow/grader blade.

thanks

Probably worse than green for $$$, but if you need a ZT for cutting time from irregular shapes or obstacles yet need to contend with that slope, look at Grasshopper front mounts - completely different weight distribution than a midmount. The FIL likes picking up a Dixon cheap every so often, but swears by the 'hoppers; around here, I believe Dargo does too.

Not sure if any of the front mounts offer a blade, but midmounts supposedly do pretty well. Else that combination seems to bring it right back to a garden tractor. :dizzy:

I can attest to the fact that ZTRs don't like slopes. Grasshoppers are mre forgiving about it, but I'm not certain how happy one of those would be in your yard. I've not had much problem with tipping, but traction running parralel to the slope is tricky, hard on the hydrostat & chains, and you tend to tear up the grass if it's at all damp. other than that, a ZTR will cut your mowing time in half or less. Point 2 - if you want to push snow in the winter, not even a grasshopper will do a decent job of that. Get a new garden tractor so you've got the hydraulic attachments for rototiller and or adjustable snow blade, and have at. good luck!

brand or ideas on models etc. Not sure what constitutes a garden tractor over what I had

A garden tractor is a glorified riding mower.
heavier frame, better grade of motor, a set of hydraulic outputs so you can operate a snow blower or 6 position snow plow, but still weighing a lot less than your bx23 did - and having a tighter turning radius.

oh, yeah - and a LOT less expensive.

The BX, I believe is a little closer to a shrunken compact tractor, while a garden tractor is more like lawn mower on steriods. Depending on features probably about half the price or less; probably a bit lighter too. If it has hydraulics etc., you're really getting into a gray area IMHO.

Watch the turn radius though, it seems like some of the the GT's are so much just beefed up LTs that turn radius gets sacrificed.

After the BX, I'm fairly certain you'd be disapointed in any FEL you might be able to mount on a GT, but I've been wrong before; a blade may be fine for you anyway though.

bought this today with a snow blade for the front. Heaviest and most power they offer. 3400.00 total delivered and setup.

Looks like Craftsman? About 26HP Kohler [I presume Command not Courage in those]?

I don't think the BX would have quite lifted it, so you probably don't have to feel like you went so much smaller that the BX would have tossed it around like a toy; on the other hand I bet the BX's 23HP still feels torquier than the Kohler's 26, but just a guess.

One thing you'll notice about the Craftsman (and any other GT, until you spend about $5K - likely on a JD, CC, etc), not only is it not power steering, but pinion/sector at that. Unless you're real weak in the arms, or do a lot of static turning, etc. you won't have any trouble, however it is a nasty wear point - I presume grease helps, but may collect dust and actually wear the sector quicker.

No idea how well those blades work, because around here the snow is way too heavy and abundant to even try.

Have fun! Action pictures, we want actions pictures! :thumb:

Well, back to my tractor - and I don't even get seat time today: bucket time

If you really want to plow snow with the GT you should get the rear wheel weights and the rear chains. My GT5000 is 5 years old, abused, and still going strong. It should work fine for you.

That looks like a nice smooth ride for mowing....The last time I mowed the yard I was beat to death on a ride mower. That one is not working now, :whistling:
