Burning "green" firewood

Well, I knew I went into this season a bit short on firewood but didn't want to get ahead as I knew I was installing new wood burners.

I'm running low on seasoned firewood and will have to either:
A) Quit burning
B) Burn some green wood (cut/split last fall)

I really don't want to quit burning so I'm going to have to burn some green. Right now, I'm mixing in about 20-25% green with my seasoned and burning the green in the stove(s) surrounded by seasoned with about twice as much air.
If we have a long winter, I'll have to increase the percentage of green. Should that happen, any suggestions? Snow on roof coupled with sprained knee will keep me off the roof until spring so a mid-season chimney sweep isn't an option.

there is another solution, plug in electric heater to supplement your heat demands to strech your wood.

Post a request here on FF for some wood to help you make it thru the winter.

I am NOT giving Zoomer wood for Valentine's Day!

I'm in the same situation. I've started mixing in the green which I split pretty small. Getting less heat.
Fortunately, I can reach my chimney with a length of Sched40 one inch pipe and I bang it regularly.

Dave, panties, "bang it regularly"...

Not the advise I was expecting.

I'll mix up the wood and use the electric heat.

The same thing is happening to lots of folks this year. I have a load of ash tree tops cut up and split small on the truck right now. I will do the same mix once I don't need the weight to push snow. I have plenty of slab wood but it has so much snow on the pile and I am tired of knocking snow off of it. Spring will be coming soon.:whistling:
