Brush Hogs????

I'm looking for a used 5 foot Brush Hog or that type of brush mower. Any suggestions as to makes and prices I should pay for one? 3PT hitch of course.

I have a five foot International Agritech IM500 model, 8 years old.

If you have a four foot brush hog type mower of comparable condition, I would consider trading even.

Hi Andy,

I don't own one yet. I may be looking at one like yours on Friday. I'm in Ma. and that would be way too far to travel.

I have a medium duty Woods 5' and it is great. I bought it used several years ago. It cost $600.00 with a set of new blades. I've also owned Bush Hog brand mowers and Befco mowers and had good luck with them too.

I have an 5' international also. It's a medium duty one. Does an outstanding job. It cost 635.00. The Woods units are better, but much more expensive. A medium duty Woods was more than double the price of the international. Heavy duty was around 1800.

My Rhino is only a 4', but is bulletproof. Most reviewers place the Rhino fairly high up. I've abused the heck out of it. We were breaking so many shear pins that we started using grade 8 bolts for shear pins (you read that right -- grade 8). We still break an occasional pin but have had no damage to the cutter.

Maybe you can get Bob to do a picture essay comparing all he can find. He did an awesome job on Boxblades a year or so ago on TBN.

Here's a start for Bob. 5' Woods Dixie Cutter.

Hey Jim, did you unhook that box blade and THEN build your fence? :pat: That ought to be fun trying to hook it up the way it sits now :yum: .

No wonder I have trouble getting it on the 3 point hitch. I sent it back because the hitch arms were on the wrong end.

What did happen is that I moved it on a chain with the fel. I didn't realize it swung around backwards until I was ready to use it a couple of weeks later.
