Hi Everyone
I just found this site and I am enjoying all the info on the track machines.
About 20 years ago I had a 1957 tucker snow cat which was fantastic in the snow that we have here on Vancouver Island in British Columbia Canada.
We are looking at buying a Thiokol 1404 to get to our remote cabin in the interior of B.C.:bonk:
The run to cabin is about 12 miles 1 way.
Will the machine work for us ?
Thanks

welcome!! All I know about cats, the ones around here will scratch h@ll out of ya! Careful with them!
Snow? I saw it twice....snowed here in '76, then in about '94 (I think, give or take a year or two) the wife & I went to Tenn. the day after Christmas to see some. We finally found about a pick-up full in a crook in the mountains.
ANYHOW............WELCOME, come on in & have some fun.

Welcome to FF bower. I'm glad you found us.

Yes that machine will probably do the job nicely. However, I'd suggest you post the question, with some more specifics on the terrain (flat, hills, mountains, deep powder, etc) that you will have to cover in that 12 miles. Also, the configuration of the 1404 will make a difference too. Is it a wide track or narrow track? You need wide tracks for deep powder, narrow tracks are better for getting through the trees, etc.

Please post your specific questions down in the SNOWCAT ADVENTURE AND USAGE area of the forums. That area is dedicated to us snowcat people, while the INTRODUCTIONS area here is frequented by all sorts of ne're do'ells and even people who live where there is no snow:ermm:
