Gone But Not Forgotten
Bowen's 58,282 Miles
Sep. 20, 2013
Mike Bowen of Flushing, Michigan made a commitment in 1982: Run a mile in honor of every American killed or missing in the Vietnam War. Bowen, 65, was stationed in Germany during the war, but lost many friends. Today is National POW/MIA Recognition Day, so it's only fitting that after 31 years, 58,282 miles and 7 POW/MIA flags, which he carried for every mile, he completed his mission today by running the final four miles, and ending – where else – at the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington, DC.
We salute him for his effort.
