Bombi maintenance - FLUIDS, FILTERS, BELTS, Spark plugs

Just acquired this beautiful machine and decided to change all fluids and filters

Found maintenance tips here and there but could not find complete guide, so decided to summarize it in this thread for the future and ongoing Bombi owners.

I'm hoping MNoutdoors will help me in this project

1. Engine oil - I would use 5W20 since I use it in the winter only and in MT . Question here use synthetic like Mobil 1 or conventional oil ???

2. Transmission - by manual its SA80EP , I ve found that some recommend to use Red Line (50204) SAE 75W80 API GL-4 Manual Transmission and Transaxle Lubricant - Car Gear Oil, would you agree or there is better alternative?

3. Differential - I just copied answer from MNoutdoors (Fluid that we prefer is the Amsoil power shift fluid in 50 weight if below -10 then 30 weight the Cat T04 in 50 weight is fine also and cheaper if your diff had 80-90 weight your bands may look new (1/4” thick) but maybe glazed, if glazed they will not grab like they should and therefore not turn as good.)

Since it needs 2.1 gal, then 5 gal drum is what order from Amsoil

4. Engine oil filter ???? What brand and filter model to use???

5. Air filter - same , what filter to use

6. Gasoline filters - same , what filter to use

7. Belts - brands and part numbers

8. Carburator rebuild kit - Autolite Ford 1250 Carburetor Kit K4395 ??? or another kit?

9. Spark plugs - which one ?

If you could also post links to where to buy then it will be great!

Thank you everyone!

Hi,

I am new on this forum and also new owner of a 1974 Bombi that has been used as work horse for most of its life. I am doing some maintenance on the wheels and notice that the bearing seal are not all installed in the same direction. most of them are installed like regular trailer bearing seals and prevent grease to come out but they all seems to have been pushed out of the hub (probably due to grease pressure). Can anyone confirm the installation direction of those seals? Also, I have not been able to put my hands on a maintenance manual other than the original one witch is a bit simple and does not go in detail and would be happy to find a more complete one.

If I am in the wrong discussion or if this subject is treated elsewhere, please let me know

Thanks
