Bombi Hydraulics

I am looking for information on how to install Hydraulics to operate ram steer and hydraulics to also operate a drag. It is a 1978 Bombi with a 1.6 liter and a 4 speed ,any help would be GRAtly apperciated.

The Bombi had an aux. hydraulic system available from the factory so if you have a parts manual it will give you the basic set up. I fabricated my own when I had the bombi years ago using the same basic pieces and parts. I got a small belt driven pump from a snowplow(fisher plow I believe), 4-5 gallon reservoir and control valve assembly from Northern Hydraulics/Equipment. Hoses were fabbed locally. The hardest part was fabricating the mount to attach the pump to the engine and that wasn't really that hard.

If I did it again I would get a the more compact control valves and mount them up high at dash level where as I had used the big standard tractor style that weighed at least 30 pounds and was mounted on the RH passenger floor board.

I spent 100s of hours in the Bombie grooming snogo trails and the best modification I ever did was removing the three seats and putting is a bench seat out of a Ford Ranger pickup. Made getting in and out a pleasure.

I don't know how similar are the bombi and the skidozer (SV200), but I also added my own fabricated hydraulic system. I had an extra groove in the pulley on the front of the engine and mounted a bracket for the hydraulic pump there. I'm not sure how much they weigh, but I bought a double-valve control from Fleet Farm (in the farm hydraulics section). I just use my Bombardier for grooming, so I only needed two controls. Perhaps a plow takes more controls.

a good pump to use is a vickers vtm you can get a ring that will handel up to 5 gpm and and a relief pressure of 2500 psi used one on my cummins pu for a snow plow alaska hydraulics can build one for you and also set uou up with a electronic clutch pulley and a 90 degree mount bracket so all you have to fab up is an engine mount the vtm pumps can also be set up for a divorced resivior or a married system i opted for the remote with a large capicity for cooling.
