Bombi brake bands

Hi, great forum I just bought a '79 Bombi I was just wondering if the diff has to come out to change the brake bands or can you sneak them out of there? Do I buy new ones or get them relined? Thanks
 
you can do them without removing the diff, I always take mine to brake shop that does industrial linings, make sure they use proper linings for machine,they have many different grades,just had a set (4) done cost was $94
