Holy cow!!!! What a great job. I actually live close to your location, and I was wondering if you could help me in locating a set of wide tracks for my machine? I own a SW-48, but the foot path is only 14" wide/side, and I am looking to modify the tracks as to widen the foot path considerably. Let me know if you have anything available, or have knowledge of something that I could take a look at. Thanks.
That looks awesome. You might want to double check that red hose to the filter. Most red is for air and water and does not like oil. It will swell up after awhile.
i have a buddy with one of them if you want my opinion the heate sucks below 0 and you need a kidny belt or suspension seat the ride is terriable on the hard packed and drifted snow we see and you may also encounter as i have spent time up an donley dome conditions are same as ours but that is a nice looking machine
Thanks Don. Not the machine for me. Mama gets cranky if things get too bumpy. She refuses to ride in my Prowler when it's on tracks because of the rough ride. Got any ideas what machine I need? The Yukon is rough and places with deep snow. I've seen snowmachines with 20x156 tracks get buried. I'm clueless about snocats, any advice is welcome, especially from a fellow Alaskan that understands our unique terrain and weather.
Im partial to snow tracs they are like subarus inexpensive and built to stay that way but you have to understand the air cooled motors and their limitations mine runs in temps down to - 20 and is plenty warm with jbox heaters but its a wee bit on the noisy side on the plus side it will cruse through about any thing but slush. if you get one you must expect to do a compleate rebuild to ensure reliability because most of them are 30 to 40 years old. on the other side the thiokol 600's are a good rig understanding you cant beat the front axles around too much or they will break spindles. the only other machine i have had experiance with were the bombies and br 100 plus and all i have to say is they are a rough ride on frozen tundra or wind chopped snow i also have had a lot of stick time in the military bv 206' decent ride but i don't recomend them because if uncle sam can't afford to keep his fleet running my guess is you can't either. the tucker looks like a good rig if you wan't a more modern cat with out the time of a rebuild and that would be the way i would goif i had with 4 independent tracks there would be alot less pitching over rough terrain
