It only took two minutes to copy and alter my program to make these into single-row bearings. I still have to use the full-size blanks, just because I've already had them cut to length..... but it won't take long to make them a bit shorter in my mill.

You'll notice I haven't cut the outside diameter, yet..... I typically do one side to about three dozen parts, and then flip them and finish the outer diameter. It might be a while before I can get YOUR parts out to Heat-Treat, I'm still working on side one on THIS batch.....but I'm sure it will be worth the wait. (Not that you've actually ORDERED any..... but these new "Experimentals" are In-Process and will be made available in the not-so-distant future, if you need some new rollers. :biggrin:


I'm glad I had one of these single-row bearings sitting around, despite the fact that I don't use, or need, this type. :smile:

I won ANOTHER $500.00 last Halloween with that costume. I've officially lost count at how much money this one has earned..... but I know it's past the $2,000.00 mark. (And it only cost $60.00 to make it).

The Indian Casinos in Northern Michigan pay very well for their Halloween Costume Contests.

Only Gawdzilla has come close to winning me as much money. ($1,800.00 with THAT one over 5 different parties). Gawdzilla was my FIRST foam-rubber costume. And it cost about $200.00 to make.

.....*Update*

I think I have enough parts accumulated, to flip them all and finish the outer diameter. I'm only going to make six of these little ones, and I have two dozen of the double-row flanges. It will be another week, or so before I can get them to heat-treat. But there's no guarantee that they'll go out soon..... my boss sends my "Home Projects" out when a big lot of 8620 material is getting sent out. (They have minimum weight requirements, and we almost never meet the minimum..... so I add MY parts to the lot and get MY parts heat-treated for FREE). So as soon as we send out a big lot of 8620, these rollers will go out, too.


Anyway, ... we're making progress. If these six rollers turn out like I want them to, I'll make a couple dozen more.

Okay, your rollers are back from Heat-Treat.

..... They look awesome! :clap:


Since these are single-row, I was able to tighten up my tolerances a little. I can tweak it a bit more, even. And these are DIRT SIMPLE to assemble. (Even more so than the originals). That's because of the tool I used..... there's a nice sloping radius in the bottom corner that pushes the bearings into the race as soon as you put pressure on the bearings by pushing the bolt into them.


I have six right now, I'll have a few dozen more by snowfall.

$12.00 apiece..... for the flange and seven brand new ball bearings. You need to recycle your original bolt, nut, washers, and bearing keeper.

(I'll upload a pic, eventually..... i'm a little busy right now). :whistling:
