- that bogie wheel setup must be a night mare to deal with

Oh I don't know about that. They are solid tires, and they have large bearings. Usually the government doesn't cut any corners, and will spend freely to make combat gear. Especially when you consider this machine was rated at run in water. My buddies M111 Husky as similar, but larger bogies. So far not an issue...

Regards, Kirk

had one----great machine----I have a welding fab shop---I redid mine to look kinda like a bombi ---but nicer looking---my doors also opened backwards to be able to pin back on warm winter days----I started a club in early 90s in upstate ny----I cant even guess how many miles that machine groomed and never broke down------one bad alt. but still made it home---club has pb s now--the only thing I had to work on was the rear sprockets---but I had that to a system on fixing------Ive had a lot of cats-----the only good cat is a dead cat----except a sno cat

up here the saying is you never drive a weasel any farther than you want to walk. the boggies did well and actually provided a nice ride with a top speed of around 30 mph the down fall of the track system were the able reinforced belts holding hardened steel plates together the cables would rot and tracks would break also vegetation like willows or steering on a side hill would walk a weasel out of its tracks.the one in the picture is intended for amphibious assault. the original weasels were built for dessert warfare, kind of a larger jeep type platform but they worked so well in the snow that most found their way to the northern climates after ww2. the tundra up here is littered with weasels and weasel parts where they died and were never recovered and also some of the old tracks had unique miner modds like chain welded to the track shoes to take the stress off of the rubber bands holding the tracks together.
