Blocking software ?

A friend of mine (longtime bachelor) just had a girlfriend & her two boys (10 & 13) move in with him several weeks ago. The kids are using his computer & going to web sites their mother doesn't approve of when they're not under adult supervision. Is there any add-on freeware that will block access to certain types of sites based on parental set specs ? He has a cheapie local IP , so AOL's blocking software won't work for him. I believe he's still using IE & not firefox. Thanks in advance..................Tom
