I'm thinking of something similar.
Looking at the models on this site, I do have a couple questions.
The LA9-3 model appears to be for indoor use. Will it work on an exterior door if the door is protected by a storm door?
It doesn't show a temperature range. The outdoor model (model 66-0086) shows an operating temp up to 140 degrees. I wonder if the interior model can handle that type of temp (which may occur between the entry and storm doors on a sunny day).
