Belt end connectors- What works the best?

What kind of belt fasteners do you guys recommend?

I currently have the Flexco 550 triple plate fasteners joining the ends of my belts together. The supplier says they are no longer available and is asking what I want to use. I thought I would lean on your guys experiences to help make the best decision.

Here's a picture of the style I am replacing:

When using any type of mechanical belt splice hardware be sure to check the manufacture's specs for minimum bend diameter, speed in feet per minute, and maximum belt tension. With any belt, a "square" splice is needed to keep the belt tracking straight. At one time Flexco provided a detailed layout procedure to get it right. A crooked splice will be nothing but problems as it tries to run off of the sprockets and rollers.

Your supplier may not have 550 but they are still made and sold we bought some last winter at least contact flex co and check who is there distributor in your area

I prefer overlapped splice but have done the hinges also some people say they do not like the bump you feel on hard pack with the overlap but it's stronger in my opinion

Great advice. Looks like the min bend radius for the 550's is 9 inches. My sprockets are 14.25 so looks like a good match. Not sure why they don't sell the plate style anymore. I ordered the singles and will use 3 per belt.

Wonder why the bolts were never broken off after installation? Is 300piw max rated but probably derated to more like 200piw at snow operating temperatures enough? I would have to agree with Boogie about overlapping the splice. Perhaps if the trailing edge of the splice was lapped below the leading edge the "bump" might be lessened. Tracks are much shorter than the conveyor belts these splices are designed for so they will see accelerated wear due to higher rpm (don't confuse with fpm).

They make a very similar set up to that. Give me a call I can show you what they have at our place in Anacortes. 360-507-2737
