Bell Canada=terrible service

Let’s rewind this story back to last January. First, we had telephone, internet, and satellite tv services with Bell Canada(aka Bell Pakistan). I called Bell at the end of January to cancel our telephone services with them since we were (at the time) planning on moving out of province in a few months time. We were just going to make do with our cell phones for a few months. They cancelled the phone line right away. That’s all fine.
Fast forward two months to March. I’m watching tv one day and all f a sudden I have no signal. I check my internet and no signal. I call up Bell and press 1 for English. I get some Paki who can’t speak a word of English telling me that all my services have been suspended due to non payment of my phone bill. HELLO!!! I cancelled the phone line back in January and it was paid up to date. After an hour of argueing with him, he finally agrees that they messed up and he’ll reconnect my internet and satellite. Four days pass and still no service. I call again and spend another hour explaining to some Paki what happened. He tells me that now I’ll need a dry loop line going to my home for the internet services. He gets the satellite working again but says that he has to program a dedicated line to my house strictly for the internet.
After ten more days and roughly 6 more hours on the phone, I find out that they were trying to patch the dry loop line into my neighbors house. I guess the Paki I talked to originally put in the wrong house number. I finally get my internet back and working again.
Fast forward to April 2010. I call Bell Pakistan again to have my internet and satellite switched over to my other house effective the end of May since I’ll be living there for two months before heading west.(so the plan was at the time) They say sure, no problem! They can have the services switched over but a Bell technician has to come and install the dish and there’s no technician in my area so I would have to pay to have someone install it. There’s already a dish on the side of the house that was working fine. I move into the house and my internet is working along with my satellite but I have a dual HD PVR receiver and it’s only working like a regular receiver. I call them up yet again and they agree to send me a new dish, splitter box, and cables that I need in order for the high def pvr to work properly. They change a setting on their end and now my satellite is no longer working. I wait two weeks and get the stuff I need in the mail. They didn’t send the cables and I can’t get any here. After several phone calls to them over the next two weeks, I finally blow my top and tell them to bend over and shove their satellite where the sun doesn’t shine. I call up my local cable guy five minutes later to have cable connected. I get home from work two hours later and I now have tv again!
So a month goes by and I get my bill from Bell Pakistan. They are still charging me for satellite. I make several phone calls to them and they tell me not to pay my bill until they get it sorted out. They say I have to pay a service fee to cancel it because I was on a contract with them. I agree. The next month, I get my bill and they are still charging me for the satellite. They also tacked on the service fee for the disconnection. I can them again a few times to get this sorted out. They cut me off a couple times transferring me from one department to another. I’m getting quite frustrated now. They still haven’t fixed my bill and it’s now climbed to over $300. They put me into collections. I call them up and ream them out. I finally get an apology and they adjust my bill accordingly. I tell them to take their internet service and shove it.
I was with that company since 1997 with my services. This is the thanks I get for being a loyal customer for 13 years. Their screw up left me with nothing but a nice mark on my credit rating even though it was 100% their fault.

Dayum!!

Well Brian, if it makes you feel any better, I too was getting the runaround early on when my phone service first got suspended.
Thing is, I had made payment arrangements so that I could juggle other things as well.
A rep I had spoken to knew this too, and was supposed to have set me up for that.
It's been nuts and yes, I talked a couple of times with persons whom I could barely understand.
This morning, the woman I spoke to actually listened to me.
I knocked some of the perks off the service, like caller ID.
That'll put me around $31 per month if I don't make any long distance calls.
I can live with that.

Sorry you had such a hard time with Bell.

$31 a month is crazy! It is $12.50 for basic local here. For $71 I get 4mb dsl and unlimited long distance. The service is just short of outstanding and the office is local. Their tech came out at 10 at night and walked my power line hill when it was 5 below to find the Amish kid had dropped a tree and tore my line. I helped him do a temp splice that night and they were back with a line crew to run new wire 2 days later.

This is CenturyLink land line phone service.
My net and tv are cable thru Time Warner.
Everything is ok now, as long as I pay the piper, which I damn sure CAN do...from now on.
You shoulda seen my phone bills when I first moved back here from England...
Course, back then I was rich..:whistling::doh::yum:
