Gone But Not Forgotten
Baseball great Stan 'The Man' Musial dies at 92

(CNN) -- He was simply "The Man."

Stanley Frank Musial made a name for himself as one of baseball's best hitters of all time on the field, as well as one of its greatest, most dignified ambassadors off it.

And now "Stan the Man" is gone. Musial died at his Ladue, Missouri, home surrounded by family, the Cardinals said in a statement. According to a post on his Twitter page, which is maintained by his grandson Brian Musial Schwarze, Musial died at 5:45 p.m. (6:45 p.m. ET) Saturday of natural causes.

Wow, 92. Not bad. RIP Stan. You gave so much enjoyment to millions. :tiphat:

Stan was old school real time baseball. Never pompus or braggy Always a freind of the fans. Always anambasador for St Louis and the sport.

With his passing goes any fragment of the time when a day at the ball-park was a day Joe sixpak could bum with the home team.

RIP friend.

Made me remember I had a bat for little league w/ Stan's name on it, not personally autographed of course. RIP, Stan!!
