I am seeking information on the legality of driving a snowcat up to Lick Creek summit or other areas in the McCall, Idaho area. Is anyone familiar with the pitfalls of public land use regarding snowcats? Private party, not a business.

Thanks,

Russ

so far I have never had any issue on public land...... I have asked the forest service about having a snowmobile sticker and they only respond that it isn't a snowmobile... . so I am not sure,,, but then again I have had to pull out the county groomer.... so I guess that might help

In Alaska, Snowcats must be registered as an over the "snow vehicle" to be able to legally operate on sate owned public land.
