Wow, that was not at all what I was expecting and it was pretty mind boggling to see the lights and music and the creative way they were tied together.
I think I'd get really dizzy watching it more than one time, but it was worth the effort.
We do a very simple outdoor arrangement, some garland around the doors, red bows, couple strings of lights, generally tasteful.
BUT INSIDE THE HOUSE IT LOOKS LIKE MARTHA STEWART EXPLODED. In fact it is waaaaay too much for me. Don't get me wrong, it looks great, the lovely Mrs_B does a fantastic job, but it takes forever and everything is color coordinated. Each room is a different theme and even the bathrooms get decorated. The main tree is 11' tall (we have 2 other smaller trees too) and by the time the ornaments, flowers, garland, ribbon, etc etc etc get put on it there is almost no green showing. If I remember correctly we put about 20 strings of lights on it. And garland starts out on the upstairs railing and is wrapped around the railing all the way to the lowest level (the house is open with one central staircase from the lowest level to the highest).
I love the look but hate the process. Every year I try (I really try hard) not to complain. It is just so much work. We used to have large parties with up to 50 people showing up and even have brought in chiors, but the last couple years its just be us.
Does anyone else do it up big time inside the house?
