We are planning a trip to Australia. Any and all info would be great! Places to go, things to see, people to meet. We are planning the trip in mid July. Weather conditions, How to dress in the area, any and all info would be great!!!!! Sydney will be our departure city. And we will have 10 days to tour. Few items we need to see while there. Outback Pic/sightseeing tour, Finke river, Ayer's Rock, coral reef, ect. Please help us plan our trip. Mike

Well daedong hasn't been here in a few days. I'm sure he might have some insights. He is a ways from Sydney though.

I'm jealous. I loved Oz when I was there but understand that Australia is a big friggin' place. I'm not sure how much you can see of it in 10 days. It's a bit like touring the States in 10 days, you can't do it.

If you are starting in Sydney, I'd limit my travels to that area and maybe up the east coast to the GBR but that would be about it but, then again, I'm not one for rushing around all the time when on vacation.

I hope Vin chimes in. He's got to have some good suggestions.

AS ETF said, it is a big place. I took my family there about 24 years ago and we spent 3 weeks touring in a caravan (known as a "motor home" on this side of the Pacific). Three weeks was not enough time. We visited one of the national parks just north of Sydney. The scenery and wildlife was spectacular. If I had the chance to go again, I would want to see the Great Barrier Reef and some of the inland areas there.

Take a good camera and lots of film (or memory chips).

A Lot of flying to get that in 10 days. That would be like seeing Niagara, hoover Dam and LA, doable but hectic, unreasonable and for a 10 day tour impracticable. You could easily consume 10 days just on the East coast much closer to Sydney, let me know what sort of things you would like to do and maybe I can help you out.
