A SWAT team responded to a scene at Beth Israel Synagogue in Colleyville, Texas, Saturday in which a man who claimed to have a bomb in an unknown location held hostages.
The Colleyville Police Department tweeted it was evacuating the surrounding area. The suspect is believed to be Mohammed Siddiqui, who claims to be the brother of Aafia Siddiqui, who is serving an 86-year sentence for the attempted murder of a U.S. soldier, sources told ABC News.
The suspect is holding the rabbi and at least three others and demanding his sister's release from prison, according to the outlet. He also demanded to speak with her.
A livestream of the service on Facebook showed the gunman entering the house of worship, Jessika Harkay, a reporter for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, tweeted. The livestream is no longer shown on the synagogue's Facebook page.
The situation reportedly took place in the middle of a bar mitzvah service. Police released a statement about the hostage around 12:30 p.m. EST.
