Area Rugs

We recently tore out all the carpet in the house and put down luxury vinyl. Now we need area rugs for each of the rooms and a runner for the hallway.

Anyone have experience with buying rugs over the internet? rugs-direct.com / rugs.com and erugs.com all come up in a search. I've considered ordering one to check them out but hope for a little advise from someone who bought an area rug online.

I can't help with area rugs. That's Mrs. Zoom's area and we only have them at the condo.

Now, my carpets... I'm allowed runner carpets at the doors and hallways I use at the back of the house (think mud room scenario).

I use commercial runner carpets, the kind you find at store/bank... entrances. They're waterproof, incredibly tough and last forever. Damn expensive if you have to buy new. I have a "source" that gets me used ones (that look pretty much like new) for about 6 to 10 cents on the dollar of a new one. If it's something you'd consider, find out who the local supplier is (e.g. Cintas) and see if they sell their used ones.

I've been rug shopping, also. I'm just getting done putting all new flooring in a 1400 sq.ft. house. But. my situation is a little different since I put radiant heat under the floors and have to consider conductance.

I'm looking at these thin rugs at amzn

I showed he boss this post BC. She prefers new. Thanks anyway for the offer. :thumb:

We bought a rug on-line for our library and it was not cheap but it is very nice, heavy weight, wool. No clue what company it came from. But it was one of the big ones that pops on on the search engines.

My sister in law bought a 9x12 area rug for her living room, I think from Amazon, it was inexpensive, no backing, lightweight. Good enough for her, but I doubt it will be very durable for long term.

Neighbor had bought area rugs from Wayfair. The quality seems nice and she likes them

That's who my wife uses. Me? I get asked if I like them before she buys, what man would say no, but otherwise my input is limited. They've always been good quality.
