Anybody think it is time to cash out 401's?

I am hoping 2 of mine are back enough to break even and get the hell out. I can average the tax over 3 years so it should be minimal. I will feel better with it in a safe than waiting for the next crash.

Nobody canprovide much advice onwhere the market willgofromhere. It has no reason ot rise but for Bernanke's ability to print money.

Ontheother hand,Preciousmetalsaren'tpoised for improvement either. Two years ago gold was supposed to top $3000 by now. it's stagnant and predicted to slump in 2014.

Banks and bonds pay nothing. Inflation is, despite the rumors otherwise, on the rise

So, where would you go with that dough?

I doubt it will be that much. They have eaten a lot with annual fees etc. Would probably pay off the car as I hate payments and stash the rest to pay taxes.

The big money pumps the equities, and then dumps them for commodities, they pump that then dump it for equites and so on and so forth. I think you just need to watch closely and do what they do....

Yup. If you're that worried, cash out your 401K's but it's useless stuffing the money into the mattress, use it to buy "stuff". At least you'll have something to trade when Doomsday comes.

I like Dirt......good old texas dirt,Mo... dirt and kansas dirt...we cashed out our 401ks back in99 and 2000.. and spred it out here and there.....

I already have my money spread around with 4 different banks. For a lot of logistics reasons. I don't trust any of them that much. At least the one took absolutely no tarp money. They are sounder than any of the others and the second closest to where we live. The others are also close but are part of bigger organizations.
