SolidWorks 2006. I've been using CAD since the days of AutoCad 2.8 in the mid 80s (started in High School). Most every version of AutoCAD, Mechanical Desktop, Unigraphics, and now SolidWorks.
You can seen an example of the type of systems I design for a Machine Vision sytem integrator here (approx 3MB, must use Internet Explorer).
We use AutoCad LT 2004 an upgrade from 2000. We use it mostly for viewing blu-prints and doing our own mechanical drawings. I can play with it some but know very little about it. Will go to school some day I think.
Cool stuff Dave. I've always wanted to play more with autocad, but never had the need. Our #1 daughter is an architect and uses various CAD programs. I like the 3D rotating pics. Awesome
I'm a mechanical design engineer and have been for over 20 years...started with Computervision, moved to AutoCAD and now use Pro/E and SolidWorks...working on mostly NASA projects and other government type stuff for a university based research facility...most recently the New Horizons spacecraft to Pluto
aha! working for a NASA sub has its advantages...again, as a research facility, we support just about everybody, so when one gets slow, we move on to the next...everything goes in cycles...
I agree, I remember working in SLS where I work. Worked on space suit stuff since we make it and more stuff. It is cool stuff but the 8 year cycle is a joke. hire 5K people then layoff 4.9K people.
So military and commercial (direct) is better..for me. I again agree on cycles but NASA by far is the worst I think.
