It is very hard to tell aymore. I recently bought a generator backup syystem from a company in Maine who swore the electronics camefrom Canada and the Generator was built in Cleveland.
Since it had different controls and power ratings one could assume.........
Well when it arrived the electric panel was indeed assembeled in Canada. And the Generator was indeed assembled in Cleveland. But the Diesel motor and the Generator itself was an exact copy of the Buffalo Generator I was replacing. Because,,,,,,,,,,,,,, it was built in "CHINA!"
Since the Buffalo was not working properly, I had no choice but to install the new unit. Three weeks later I had to take the new unit in for warranty repairs.
