A tracked vehicle in today's newspaper!

If any of you get the Wisconsin State Journal, be sure to look at page three of the front, main section.

Rescue personnel were doing test diving and refining emergency services, and they were taken out onto the lake in what appears to be a smaller cat.

It was on the January 7th edition.

As for what happened, it appears that the idea of using tracked vehicles is spreading to my little burg.

Up until now the only things I've seen are the usual trucks and snowmobiles with barrels, large boxes and other flotation devices tied to them.

In fact, I have never seen a tracked vehicle used to groom ski runs and cross-country ski trails. That may happen in our far northern areas, but not around here.

I thought the cat owners might like to see the article.

Chico,

I think you'd be surprised on how may tracked vehicles are used even in the deep south of The Peoples Republic of Dane Kounty.

Not just snowmobile trail grooming, but the ski hills and x-country trails that the granola eaters are on all the time. The emergency government agencies assuredly have at least a couple of them also.

Although, tracked tractors are getting more popular due to their far superior reliability and cost ratios. (Wisconsin really doesn't have the need for the deep snow capabilities of "true" snow-cat vehicles.)

That's true, but it's only since I've joined FF that I even bother to look for them. (I'm fairly observant, but it was only after my wife's surgery have I noticed the number of thyroid scars on the necks of the women I meet.)

BTW, I don't have a scanner, although I have the picture of the cat here in my area.

Do you have yesterday's paper and a scanner?
