howdy my name is tim h and i recently bought a thiokol imp. i am sure that few of you will be suprised that it has a problem. there is a CLUNK that is likely due to a broken tooth in the main drive gear in the differential. i do not know how to fix it or how to determine it i need a new diff. so much to learn so little time.

Hi Tim, we've got lots of people where with Thiokol Imps . . . but I'm not one of them :smileywac

Welcome to the ForumsForums. For specific questions about your Imp, I'd suggest you post the question inside the SNOWCAT area, there are 4 sub-forums in the Snowcat area where you can post. But please don't limit yourself to the Snowcat areas, there are lots of areas here to explore, from politics to pets, guns to gardens, and tractors to snowcats.

I don't have an Imp either, nor do I know much about fixing them, but I drove one for a couple of years in AK. Some people don't like them, but I do. The one I used was like a hot little sports car.
If someone hasn't PM'd you and you haven't found a post relating to it yet, seems to me the C4 in the Imp is a known weak spot. You WILL find several people here who will tell you exactly how to fix it, that is if you manage to keep them from coming to fix it for you!

Your in luck! Contact Peterson equipment. They are close to Salt Lake City UT. Search for Peterson equipment above and you will find there phone number. They have all the guys still working for them who most likely built your IMP.
