After a lot of discussion at work we have decided we need another piece of equipment. It's something that you guys will probably like and something I'm sure I'll have 100 questions about... I've attached a teaser pic to see if anyone can figure out what it is. of course lots of pics will follow once it's been delivered.

It should be here on tuesday or wednesday this week...

Looks like a toilet paper roll holder ???? Did you by a bathroom wall for your shop ???

Well, It's here now and 218 Bryan got it right. We bought this BV 206 to transport people approx 1km up a snowmobile trail to some zip lines. It will move 12-15 people 1 km 4 times a day.

I've been playing with it for 3-4 days now and I think it will work for our purpose. I wasn't impressed today when the temp warmed up and we had slushy conditions but I guess only time will tell...

This machine has new paint, head rebuilt, new tracks all around, all new road wheels, etc etc etc.. It also came with about 25 used road wheels with bearings in decent shape.

Does anyone here have a BV 206? Our machine won't get into fourth gear it seems to be lacking in power, I'm not sure if it's normal or a problem...

This is my first you tube video, shot with my Iphone today.

In the storage compartments there is all sorts of fun stuff, Full manuals in english, full manuals not in english, factory jacks, gas powered blow torch (looks deadly), factory tools and all sorts of stuff.

I have 20 years with the ak army national guard i can answer any questions you have and you will need all the road wheels and drive sprokets you can get your hands on. but as far as power i need to know if you have the 2.8 v6 or 5 cylender diesel or 6 cylender diesel when you are in deep snow slush or mud you must use low transfer or you will burn up the transmission the shifter is located behind the drivers seat.

Thanks dds, we have the v6 ford gas motor. The hills are steep but I didn't expect to be in first gear climbing them.

I am aware of the low gear, without it we wouldn't be able ot make it up at all. On flat trails at 2200ft elevation in high gear the machine won't pass 3300rpm in third gear.. Runs great in low gear though.

I like the peace sign on the back, sort of makes it look like an old Hippie mobile!

i currently maintain one just like that it does not have the git up andgo touque that the 6 cyl diesel does and i,m at sea level here in nome with rolling hills you might talk with bogie see if he has a solution for re jetting the carb for the higher altitudes if you plan to spend most of your time there but the trade off is poor preformance at sea level how does it run at sealevel can you get 5k if not you have a runabiliy problem you may also want to look at fuel delivery and timing we had to replace the fuel pump on the one here at nome i put an electric pumo in the back by the fuel tanks made a big differece also look at the rubber hoses on top of the fuel tanks they will crack and suck air but not always let fluid leak out.

allso chek the 3 way walve on the fule tanks take it apart and chek the rubber somtimes the rubber get squeest and the holes is werry smaal and the fule dosent get true in order .
torulf sweden .

Some friends of mine are considering getting one,so would appreciate any opinions of the machine now that you have had it for awhile.

i have spent 17 years working on then for the army so i will try ti be nice if you have any electrical problems you almoste have to be an electrical engineer to read the schematics secondly when it comes to the engine compartment cleanlyness comes before godlyness if you get oil and fuel in the bottom of the tub you will have a fire and the brakes do throw sparks you want to park these rigs with the pluggs out or they will fill up with water and freeze road wheel and sproket matainence is a never ending battlethere has been some coupler problems in the past if you push them to hard through the whoopdi doos that being said they are forgiving as far as staying the tracks and work good accross all different terrain but at 1.5 psi not a great snow vehicle but because of the steering and 4 tracks will out preform bombies matttracks and other atv type rigs they are resonably quiet and ride reasonably well and the running gear seams quite stout keep them greesed amd the u-joints and drive axle bearings will last a life time.as a side note the government dosn't drive them all that much and they can't afford to keep them up at 100 % so excersise caution if you buy one and now the us government as de milling all their bv's instead of selling them off so i expect parts will be hard to find.

Sorry Somehow I missed this thread.

We are using this machine to transport up a few very steep grades in the snow/slush/ice etc. For our use it was just ok untill I added studs to the front two tracks. I ordered them online and the are "Maxi Grip HM25". They came in a box of 200 and I thought I would try one box on the front tracks and see what happened. The results were exactly as advertised, on the ice it is a whole new machine for $200. I'll probably order 200 more of the larger HM30 size next time.

Overall we are happy, i have been told that parts are easy to get but as these things go the parts I need are always the exception. Now that we own it I don't know anything else that would suit our purpose better.

If I were buying another it would be a diesel. the V6 ford has to work so hard I think it will have a shortened lifespan. It shifts around 4500rpm and runs 4000-5000 at normal speeds.. Maybe it just sounds high since it is sitting beside you.

The ride is good up front, better in the rear but overall very good.

If you have any specific questions I would be happy to help with my limited knowledge.
