Hi all.

Not sure this is the correct place to post sorry, but was nearest i could find.

Im looking at getting a FINNCAT FLEXTRACK MPV.

I do not know ANYTHING about it at all and neither does the current owner, as much as i dont even know size engine it has, and im not sure if its a 2 stroke but think it may be!

The guy who has it swapped it for a motorbike so is completely clueless as well.

ANY information about this would be great!

I will try and upload some pictures later, but not too sure how i do this.

Welcome benlooker , I cant help you other then on the pics , Scroll down to advatance settings & you should see a manage attachment button to upload pics from your computer , You might have to resize them to where they are forum friendlly though .

Pictures have on your computer. When posting below where you usually click Submit scroll down a ways and you will manage attachments. There you can add pictures but they are only allowed as 800 by 800 so you may have to down size them using a Picture editor program such as Irfanview which is free.

Just a quick google search & this is all I could find . the MPV appears to be a Yamaha engine & made in 1988 & 89 .

Heres a link but not sure what language its in . Click on flextrack .

This appears to be a limited production Finnish snow machine made from 1982-89 powered by Yamaha engines. That was all I could decipher from the foreign website.

The 1980 Finncat snowmobile

finncat.jpg

Manufactured by Finncat Vehicule Oy of Posantie, Finland.

The 1980 Finncat featured an unusual technological innovation: with no directional skis, it was guided and driven by the track, which consisted of two segments of pleated plastic. The segments stretched like an accordion and were joined longitudinally like a spinal column. Four guide wheels mounted on a directional pivot traveled along the centre of the track to provide steering. Two sprockets and the back gave the vehicle its forward power. The track would stretch to the right or left to turn the vehicle in the desired direction.

Other features
Body and shell made of a single moulded piece of fibreglass, reinforced with steel rods.
Drive train motor, transmission, and drive shaft located under the seat.
Drive located on the left side with a drive shaft leading to the central rear sprockets.

Note: Finland is one of four principal users of the snowmobile in addition to Canada, the United States, and Japan.

Yeah thats pretty much it, not quite as shiny though.

Any rough idea of what size the engines likely to be?

Thanks for all the help!

As near as I can tell the engine is a Yamaha SM-340 & takes a NGK 22B8HS spark plug from the link I provided , but you need to be more specific on #,s that hopefully can be found on the engine itself .

That track looks like a "one-shot-wonder" for that machine. If the track is at all questionable, you may have a lawn ornament on short order. Interesting concept though...

You know what the worst part of this question is??? The red one with the two lovely ladies was shot at the Bombardier museum and there is a small plaque there that tells all. But pictures are not permitted and I don't live in that area. If you get a visitor to the museum, they could get you the information. Good luck.
