I realize there are fans of the Holley Sniper system, and there are some forum members who have Sniper systems they’re happy with....
But… One of my very best friends installed a Sniper system on a first generation Bronco project vehicle... and had all kinds of problems. There are some people who ignore installation instructions and there are others who follow them to a T. My friend does things with incredible attention to detail, and often in a no-expense-spared fashion. And yet despite that, he couldn’t get the vehicle to run. He spent hours (plural) checking, then re checking his work, and couldn’t find anything wrong with what he did. Then he made numerous phone calls to Holley’s tech reps before he finally reached someone with in-depth knowledge. The problem? The brand new Holley distributor was defective right out of the box.
Even if you’re doing the work yourself, your time has value. And the amount of time he wasted due to Holley’s poor quality control, and product support, would have paid for the system several times over.
He’s now building Bronco 2.0. He wants nothing to do with Sniper. Nothing!
It’s his belief Holley’s tech reps have little to no real world experience, and very limited training. Further, he suspects the turnover in the department is very high.
I’m a big fan of fuel injection, and my snowcat partner-in-crime and I are in the process of installing aftermarket fuel injection on a Tucker 1544. But we’re using the Edelbrock ProFlo 4 system, which is a sequential multi-port system rather than a throttle body system. It’s also application specific rather than an almost one-size-fits-most approach like the Sniper setup.
If my friend were a member of this forum he would say "Run, don’t walk, away from the Holley Sniper system”.
