2meter radio in a snow trac

up here in nome cell phones don't work out of town and with sun spots sat phones can bu unreliable sometimes so the choice to get a ham license was a no brainer with the linked repeater network up here i can get help just about anyplace on the seward penensula.i'm using a 50 watt alinco 2 meter radio 5/8 wave antena and a bendix king aux speaker wich is darn near as loud as a pa speaker so i can hear it overcabin noise with ear plugs in the local ham club also has a phone patch so i can make phone calls home to check in or call my daughter to bring me a can of gas

Here on the farm we use two way radio's alot. You don't count minutes, and no monthly bill either:smile:

Where did you mount the antenna, and where are you drawing radio power from? Do you have an Engine noise filter?

We power them straight to the battery on ur equitment, and try to ground to the frame away from the radio, to get the cleanest signal.

antenna is centered in front of my strobe and powercomes off the battery once again no monthly bill and no minuts
