Hey guys, I have a couiple questions. First, I have finished rebuilding the motor and I want to add a dual battry when I put it in. Do I need a larger altenator ?

2nd, does anyone know where I can find axle bushing for a Thoikol 201 Spryte ? I have already spoke with Nancy and Pat at Spryte Improvements and Nick at Peterson.

Your alternator size will be more dependent on how many lights you have, and their total draw in amps. Don't forget to add for the electric motor for the heater either....Dual batteries shouldn't matter at all, unless you plan on using one to power the rig while the engine is turned off. Then perhaps.

Bushing can easily be made by a machine shop with a turning lathe. That is where I would turn to.

Hope this helps, Kirk

if you are planning to run dual batterys the factory small frame alt should work well unless you are planning on a large electrical load like a gazillion lights or extra heater motors. dual batterys have 2 ways to isolate them for like a winch application my recomendation is a diode type isolator allows both batterys to charge but it will prevent the aux battery from drawing down the starting battery even with the ignition on if the aux battery is going to be used for key off isolation like in an rv say running radio gear or a heater than all you need is a continuous duty solenoid. them big round marine switches are a pos in my mind i have numorous problems with them and replaced all of them wit a $24.00 solinoid. one other thaught to remember if you step up amperage on teh alternator you will likely be adding belts to on the older v belt sytems you generaly ran 2 belts on anything over 60 amps
