1st Annual Snowcat Festival

Paul,

Don't have time to look (find) right now but this is very similar to the event BigAl is working on. Is it the same event or a different one?
 
If there is an established event I would like to get up to speed on it. Please clue me and others in. I had read in the past of a get together in the Reno area I think....

In my usual fashion, my intention was to stir the pot and then try to "Huck Finn" the details.... now everyone knows my MO!

I am working on a Snow Cat meet for 08 in Elk City , Idaho . I have talked with the Founding Fathers in town about throwing a wing ding . We have the use of the Hot Springs too .
I am stuck in Calif as my father is back in the hospital and we are looking into extended care for him now , BUT I am working on it .

I wish I could be with you all in your festivities, how about holding it in Wales, though the snow would have to be white sheets!?
 
I would love to come over, but they wont let Timba come and she would miss me too much, otherwise I would be there. It would be nice to meet you all and see some real snow.
 
I'm in!....... even the wife is excited about it. Look out Elk City the cool cats are coming.

I was in Elk City on Saturday. What a fantastic place to have a snow cat festival. Wonder if we could get up to the lookout on Coolwater ridge? We rode our four wheelers from Elk City out to Anderson Butte lookout then down to Selway Falls..........what a ride email me if anybody wants pictures of the area

Good morning Boy's

Mike , as of right now I am sitting in Grass Valley Cal. trying to get my father into a health Care home . He has declined rapidly in the last few days . Yesterday was the worst and I had to come to grips with myself that all his illnesses are way beyond my ability to manage .
I can give you this update :

1. I have talk with the town "Fathers" and they think it is a great idea .
2. I have attempted to get cabin/room rates at the Hot Springs ,but new owners are coming in soon . Prices should be around $60 a night for a cabin . They have 4 or 5 . Rooms should be less .
3. My new Barn is on hold as I have not been able to spend much time there so far this Summer.The new pad is cut .
4. We still can do this but may need to use the town motel for extra rooms if we decide to stay someplace besides the hot springs .
5. I was thinking of doing a Pig Roast bar-B-que in a pit at the ranch .
6. Thought I would do a small fireworks display one night for the kids .
7. WE do have 100's of miles of forest roads to take advantage of .
8. I have not talked with the Forest Service yet about using snow mobile trails .
9. We could go up to Iron Mountian lookout . The lookout is long gone ,but you can see all the way into Montana .
10. Local Cafe and saloon are all for it
11. I just dug a small pond that should freeze solid if any one wanted to ice skate .
12. I believe the local VFW is having a sweet heart dance and dinner one night and if we plan according this would be fun .
13. I thought maybe we could also have a wild game feed night . I am pretty sure I can get a mix of different meats . Elk ,Deer , Bear , fish etc.

Sorry to hear about your father. The barn is no big deal we can stay in town or the Hot Springs. If you decide you dont want to host that is fine as well. No pressure.

You have no idea how bad I want to be back in Idaho at the ranch . Besides missing the place ,there is a large amount of work to do before winter sets in .
If there is any way to pull this off ,I will do it .

I realize that some things are not within my control . My fathers health is one of those issues . That being said , his welfare comes first and I know that every member here would agree with my decision . Thanks for being understanding .
