1988 Tucker 1644 (Water Temp Wiring)

I'm trying to get my 1988 Tucker figured out. First of all, anyone have a manual for a 1988 and/or wiring diagrams? In the pics below I found 3 thermocouples/sending units. #1 appear to be broken off. #2 has one wire, but when I cleaned it up, it looks like one might be broken off. #3 has a thermocouple that goes all the way back to an aftermarket water temp gauge. Not sure why it was added. As you can see from the pics below, someone cut the wire going to the factory temp gauge. I'm not sure which wire in the rat nest of factory wires should go to it. What makes the idiot light come one?

Tuckers were uniquely wired. Ive been in some that have murphy switches that buzz like mad until is oil pressure comes up and coolant temps come up.

Its likely your machine had an owner who did not enjoy the serenade.

The master cyl switch is a pressure switch. It either turned on your brake lights or was tied into the shifter if you have an automatic.

The temp gauges are straight forward one was a temp switch for the light. The other was a vari resistor that was the gauge

I wanted to report back on this so that maybe someone can learn from my experience. I ended up opening the wire loom in the engine area. Lo and behold, there was a wire (orange) that had been snipped off/pulled off/broken off up inside the loom. I color matched the wire using Ancor 18g tinned wire and tied into the temp sensor (not idiot light). The idiot light is a yellow wire as shown. I then used my Fluke meter to test for continuity. Again, lo and behold there was an orange wire that had been clipped behind the gauge cluster.

I have not run the machine to test it yet as I have other items to work on, but I'm 100% sure as long as the temp sensor is working, the whole thing should work. The temp sensor is a VDO 801/5/1 rated for 120*C (250*F).

To further follow up, the wires going to the brake master cylinder, do in fact turn on the brake lights. I should have figured this out on my own, but was so focused on the temp stuff, my brain had a fart.

Nice.

Ive been in quite a few tuckers (snow cats in general). And when they get hot. Which most do. People install temp gauges and remove thermostats.

I love your approach.
