1982 Bombardier BR100 BOMBI restoration complete

Hi, one month ago I finished the restoration of my snowcat. A 1982 Bombardier BR100. Before beginning I surfed the web for photos and informations and I did'nt find much on these Bombis so I tought that now I'm finished with it I could post photos of the course of the work and before and after the job that took me a year and a half. I would like to help others who would like to do something has 'crazy' as I did.
Since I'm stopped from working for sickness I have a lot of time to do that.

I wanted opinions if it was a good idea and if many peoples were interested and if I'm posting at the right place on this forum.

here are the photos of the mods. Engine swap from 1996 Ford Ranger 2.3l EFI with 5 speeds manual tranny yep manual, I prefered it for better reliability than automatic. It shifts very well and smooth from 1 to 5.
new hydraulic clutch drive mechanism also coming from the Ranger. shorten and balanced driving shaft, repositioned diff oil pump, repositioned tranny and engine mounts, repositioned radiators and oil filters.
changed the rad fan for a reversed one. Modified manifold.
Reinstalled the old hydraulic pump on new engine with flat belt pulley and new longer belt. Repainted chassis after welding and sandblasting. New carpetting and hydraulic hoses.

Exactly BR100+ but with manual tranny. It's very strong almost twice hp's and torque. Altough it stays a work machine, slow but strong and a bit noisy when pushed.

:wow: Fantastic job !
That wiring harness looks like a nightmare to deal with.
Congrats on a job well done :thumb:

Thank's for your comments. For me it's not work but pleasure:wink:

I would like to mention that I had help from one of my brothers who's a top welder. Without him I could'nt realize my crazy projects

For the harness it was the easiest for me since i'm an electronic technician. I had to depend on no one for that step. It took a long time but went well.

The calk-ice are still missing on my tracks. I sent them to be fixed and welded and I'll put them back on.
I hope this post will help others who want infos and photos about BR100's

Excellent work and a great machine as a result. My bet is that Bombi will be around for a very long time too...

Hello~ I recently purchased a 1982-1984 ( not exact on the year yet)

Bombardier Bombi BR-100 and was very impressed with your postings of

the restoration.

I am interested in finding some Manuals .. both parts and maintenance for

this machine. Can you give me some links or places to visit to obtain them.

Either could be downloadable or purchase manuals.

Thanks,
Darryl
