Hi I just put the motor in my st4 it has no forward gears it seems to have 4 in reverse .????? Looking for any help or ideas
 
hi .think you have to fit diff crown wheel reversed in gearbox as its in the front of snow trac and in the rear of vw car .hope this helps.
 
i'm guessing some one put in a bug transmission and did not flip the ring gear or the trans was rebuilt as bug trans fliping the ring wil give four forward gears the snow tracs also had van nose cones with bug transmissions i would guess if you have the bug nose cone than you are having alignment problems not alowing you to get reverse it will take some tinkering to make it work i had to do it with mine to use a big cone that was sealed
 
Thanks for the info I think the motor and trans all have to come back out . Will post pics soon on the full restore of my 1975 st4 .
