To anybody out there, can I submerge my Tandem axle and housing and spring, misc parts in a cleaning trough ????
The cone bering are falliing out. Need to replace Bower 25581bering and all rubber gaskets associated with. Also redoing all new wheel bearings.
Timken bering 2788 and Garlock Klozure 63X1057. Started out to change the old tires with new Yokahama tires and tubes and kept going.
Any info would be appreciated

Ok you got me on the cleaning trough ..... would that be a water pressure washer or a Varosol tank ? Either way parts gotta be cleaned , whatever works.
You mentioned a 2788 bearing , the race to match it is a 2735 , what was the best price you found on those ? , the off shore ones seemed to have dried up .

THANKS J5 !!!!
I have a Varosol tank to soak parts. I assume changing bearings you must change the race also. The Garlock Klozure 63X1057 is also needing to replaced. Went to the local NAPA store and he gave me a price of $40 for the 2788 and $20 for the oil seal. Next up need to wire brush wheels and paint, install new bearings and new tires and tubes.

Check out Rock Auto sometime their bearing prices are good , especially when you need 12 2788 bearings and 12 2735 races .

I got the bearings and cup races from rockauto. Thanks for that info !!!!! Now, I'm looking for the Garlock Klozure 63X1057 it appears that they don't make them any more, do you happen to know the cross reference product ?????
And finally do you know the cup race for Timken 25581 for the Tandem Axle Bearing and the Spindle Bogie Bearing ????
Thanks in advance,
GA

So you got the wheel bearings sorted , so I'm using a DMR S18728731BS wheel seal , but check the OD of your old seal with this one . Beam bearings are the same as the sprocket bearings, bearing 25581 and race 25520 . I usually put the new ones in the sprockets and take the old ones and put them in the beams . J5 Bombardier

Looking for some help again. Got the wheel seals from Cutting Tool Pickers in York, Ontario price was $9 a piece.
1st - Now next up is in the attached picture. It is metal bushings inside the Link- Spring the ID is not round anymore it is wore to an oval.
2nd - The rubber grease retainer seals inside the Tandem- Axle and the Spindle and Bogie are bitched up and need to be replaced.
Any help would be appreciated.

I would fire up the lathe and make new link bushings and also make new wheel spacers on the spindles , so the new seals don't get tore up. The rubber mud excluders on the spindles I don't bother with , the beam o rings match them up at a bearing store, round or square .

I mentioned them in the above post , match them as best you can at a Hyd /Bearing shop , square would be nice , round will work , they don't do much .
