1960 Muskeg Tractor Parts and Info...

Hi Everyone, I've been around the forum since this spring and learned much regarding capabilities and specs of various machines. Thanks to all of you with experience especially Pixie for coming to have a look at the new acquisition.

I recently bought a 1960 Muskeg tractor which is in near usable condition... he's got a fabbed up logging boom from old chairlift tower parts and a crankshaft pulley driven winch. Looks like it will haul wood like mad IF I can get the 2nd pair of Bogie wheels straightened out...

Has anybody got a parts diagram, repair manual, or experience with the early muskeg spring and barrel suspension?...

I also am going to need some parts, specifically; a bronze bushing for the inside of the spindle mount, the through bolt, wheel bearing seals etc...I could probably use the whole bracket that has the spindles welded to it as the mouting ear is also bent but may have a line on one. (the Large through bolt was sheared completely off and the wheel pair was flopping around elongating the hole where the bolt went through) I've included some pictures since wheel pair removal.

Any experience with these is appreciated.

There is a fellow in South Branch,NL. that had one scraped with all the suspension still there. All he wanted was the rims. I don't know how much trouble it is to bring used parts accross the border. If you want I can find out what he has left...

OT.

Small spindle, eh. I might have the piece you are looking for. I'll post some pics of our dump unit that we are using as a parts donor.

Landskeg's machine has the large spindles/wheels.

I have the part for a small spindle machine......

Hi gang, I wanted to say thanks for the responses to the Old Trucker and Dixopr...

Yes to your question old trucker about seeing what your friend has left of the parts machine and where is "NL"... exactly?...

To the Dixopr; like Pixie said, my machine somehow has the large spindles and wheels... It appears that at some point on this muskeg, the walking beam TUBES were replaced by actually cutting them out of the toboggan frame and replacements welded in.

I'm thinking at that time, updated larger spindle mounts/wheels were placed underneath. This is speculation based partially on observation of course...anybody know when the changeover to the larger spindles occurred in Bombardiers manufacturing of these? Late 60s?...

Landskeg here is an email I sent to Guy Pepin @ the address below. All of the B12 models, R models have the small spindles, same as the older J5 models as stated below....Hope this helps..

Hello Guy. I would like to know what years the J5 had the same rims as the B12. I was told that some of them did have this. Can you help me
