Gone But Not Forgotten
The FFA in high school was a great group of kids . Most went on to become very responsible adults and a success .
Farming is many times a thankless job . Most city people never realize where a ear of corn came from or that the New York steak they are eating was raised by farmers and ranchers . They think there is a endless supply of food in the safeway store where they shop .
A reply I once read from a protester about the killing of cows . Quote( Stop killing innocent cows and buy your beef at a store like me ") End quote.
Some city people actually do not realize that beef is cows.

True Al but as you know, farming is a hard and uncertain way to make a living. Much too hard for most of the kids of today. It takes a certain kind of person and usually a sizable bankroll to be a successful farmer these days.
Now, if you want to talk lifestyle, that's a completely different thing.

Damn hard !. Farmers and ranchers get no days off ....ever .
Its "Go big or Go home" . Not many small operations left anymore.
Yea unfortunately you're right. Down here in East Texas there are still lots of little family places around but everybody I know has a full time job in order to subsidize the lifestyle. Unless they are old and retired like me where farming and ranching is just a hobby, they sure can't make a living at it.
