It was decided to go to the lake!

We had new stages and better snow to the north. But that area will be visited saturday. Its very exciting to have new ground. New clowderites, and new snowcat types

As usual fun was had by all of the PA crew. We made our way out early and spent some time in WI, making our way to the UP Wednesday. We were able to put the cats on some good snow Thursday, very close to the lodge. Friday was a nice ride up to the top of Copper Peak for a view unlike other years. Ride out to the lake was tougher but doable. Good snow to be found out on the other roads in the private lane. Saturday was a good show with time to ski or snowboard. Peep the custom air freshener a non forum memeber gifted me 😂

Again, what a great turn out of a great bunch of folks no matter how much snow. Thanks so much to Black River Lodge and Powder Horn for the fabulous hospitality. In the past years I've helped with fixing, hauling tracks out, picking up Tucker parts off the trail and towing cats out of the bush but this year I was on the receiving end of the wealth of knowledge and abilities in this group to remedy a problem. Thanks to all.

This event was all about the truck for me this year. I tried this pile of scrap iron once before. Its was a giant IH gas engine powered torque monster. The war was lost when the final battle with a waterpump broke my press-on-regardless view of life. I pushed a strap all the way from eagle river wi to my camp. ( about 1.5hrs) It was uphill and snowing heavy but mr yeti was fearless behind the wheel of a quigley e350. He had two cats on the trailer and a strap to me and two more cats. It was boot down! We out ran the storm and got into camp. My funny was "a 7.3L ford could tow itself and the s1900 faster than the ih could move itself."

The truck was repowered with a dt466. Swapped axles for a brake upgrade.

The truck serves a small community in wi as a hay hauler in summer and recently has be seeing duty for a buddy's need to move a 8 ton boom lift. I decided to give the clowder a go and put a couple buggies on the back to see what it's got. It can hold speed better, (not much better) its fuel burn is very acceptable. I tripped and fell off it once. Alone out on a scouting trip thursday. (Driving the first buggy to the top is easy) securing the cat is tricky at that point but important with people milling around.

I was meeting with a us forest service person and i saw a man checking out the truck. He mentioned that a bunch of cat guys get together at big powderhorn and said STOP OUT! Bring your cat if you have one!. Man did he ever have a cat! The group was awesome. The snow plenty where we found it.
