Is anyone in CA interested in taking an Avalanche course? I'm looking at one in January to protect myself from my snowmobile/snocat/backcountry ski hobbies.

Yeah I'm game, been looking for info on the subject myself, I've found some related stuff on the north end of Tahoe, but nothing close to me.

you got something in mind?

Have you guys looked at Art Seely's SafetyOne website? He may not be local to you, which may be a problem. But Art seems to offer a well respected training program, covers many topics.

There was a past thread by one of our members on a very similar topic, Mike took Art's classes. Here is a link to that thread: http://www.forumsforums.com/3_9/showthread.php?t=1798

Here is a link to the SafetyOne website and training page.

Here is a screen shot of just SOME of the things he offers in his basic classes.

Hello,
I have been gone for awhile but dropped in to give my 2 cents worth. First of all I have gone to two of Saftey Ones winter survival and snowcat training sessions. Each were about a week long. I can only say that they are top notch classes! Every instructor was and is a professional in his field. You cant go wrong with any of there classes! Gotta go.

Mike, do I remember correctly that SafetyOne also has survival gear for snowcats?

The only things we have to survive here mainly, is the rain and the wind! I still want some snow this winter, but I doubt if we'll get much, if any. My main winter survival strategy is a bottle of wine and stay in and watch tv or chat to you folks on forumsforums!
