Wow tornadoes

Gone But Not Forgotten
Just in the last two hours storms have popped up just west of us about an hour and a half. There is 3 tornadoes confirmed on the ground. Some of the cells are headed right to our area. Some cells have broken up but new ones are being created. None of the TV stations are doing normal broadcast and only watching the weather.

My house sits high on a hill

I see your green light is still on, so I'm assuming all is still in order your way. Have you grabbed the laptop, flashlights, etc. and headed to the basement, or have things dissipated?

So far we are ok. Sky is very funny looking, it is quiet but we still have electricity. A town 40 miles south west of us reported 4 tornadoes in the ground in the area and the town is pretty much out of power right now. We don't typically have tornadoes pop up all over the place like tonight. We have one or two usually but so far that I have counted we have about 16 reported. Now did they all touch don't know. The storm is about 15 miles from us right now. Will head done stairs soon. Did I say our house is high on a hill.

Quiet with greenish gray sky ain't good. I checked the radar at weather.com and y'all definitely have some stuff cookin. Hang in there.

Looks pretty busy out there this evening.

Just wondering...

Did any tornado alley residents lambaste the residents of 'nawlins' that live under a lake, or the homeowners along a hurricane-prone coast, or those that build on Californias muddy slopes?

:whistling:

Lambaste 'em for what?

We too spent yesterday evening under a tornado watch.

It started with the traditional heavy rains, lightning... Well, the kids and I were in the bunker (they were playing, I was figuring out how to install a new generator) and we had no idea any of this was going on. Couldn't even hear the thunder. Mrs. Zoom came down to pick up the kids and take them to the house for dinner. When I got home, I found them watching TV and eating dinner in the basement.

The skies were dark (but gray, not green) and clouds moving in all different directions but all we ended up with was the heavy rain with regional flooding and lightning.

For living, and rebuilding, in disaster-prone areas.

Why would one lambaste them for living and rebuilding and taking care of themselves? One might lambaste them for pissing and moaning and blaming someone else for their lack of preparation, while standing around with their thumb up their sorry butts waiting for somebody else to come to their aid. One might do that.

Keep your head down good buddy and don't forget the pictures!

Pictures I found were not that great. But how about a couple nice videos?

Gee thanks Steve!
They are already calling for the worst storms of the season around here tomorrow, large hail, damaging winds, possible tornadoes.
The most wonderful part about all this is that I'll be at work when it's happening and must put my fears aside, keep a level head and worry about my 24 residents!
If it's still storming when it's time for me to clock out, I am not leaving the facility.
I'll either go to Mom's AL apartment, or downstairs in the basement at work.
That place is like a bunker, it's under the northside parking lot.

Tornado sirens and alerts just went off. Hotel lobby called to tell me to come down stairs to hide out in the center of the building with the rest of the guests. The hotel is vibrating and shaking like a train going by. Snapped a quick picture out my 4th floor window and am heading outside to see if I can get a good picture. :thumb:

ooh, maybe not. I think it's heading across the walmart parking lot heading right at us...

Went outside to get a picture/video, but couidn't make it around the front of the building. Wind just about took me off my feet and was worried about getting smacked by a branch/road sign/shopping cart/Lexus. Just so I didn't make the trip and got soaked for nothing, took a few seconds of video where you can atleast hear the sirens waling...

Bismarck, ND.

Just high winds, rain, and flashflood warning remain. Looks like there was some damage done near the local Walmart. I can see utility crews working along the road near there.

It was just a little show that we put on for visitors, we have the country's largest softball tournament this weekend.

Yup, hotels pretty booked and EXPENSIVE! There's a girls team in my hotel. :thumb:

Dammit, I just remembered that. I went out for pictures instead of huddling up in the laundry room with everyone else. :bonk:
